Saints Under Construction - Hannah Millet | Mary, Queen of Peace Church

As I get ready to leave for college, my biggest motivation in my faith journey comes from the community I have at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

Through PAX Youth, the St Joseph's Altar and the Student Leadership Team, I have made connections with so many people who constantly inspire me. I see how they all carry the Gospel and truly have God working through them, and that has brought me closer to Him as well.

I couldn’t be more grateful to have found these people and to have their support as I move into the next chapter of my life. My goal is to bring all of the lessons they have taught me about hospitality, love, and humility to LSU and the Catholic Student Center when I begin in a few weeks.

Mary, Queen of Peace taught me what servant leadership truly means, putting others first and sacrificing with humility for their sake. I saw servant leadership in my confirmation saint (and favorite saint), St. Blaise. In the year after my confirmation, I was given the opportunity by Mr. Dylan Mitchell to live out the things I’ve learned from this parish and St. Blaise in my Rooted Small Group. This was my greatest experience during my senior year and I can’t wait to spread MQP’s radical hospitality in Baton Rouge.

Hannah Millet graduated from Mandeville High School in May and will be attending LSU this fall, majoring in political science with a concentration in international law. Keep an eye out for Hannah's "College Connection" in our monthly Porch Light magazine.
