What might those imprints look like? To get a vision of that, ask yourself a few questions: What do you value most? How have you been blessed? Who/what has influenced you for the better?
How can you honor those people and those places that have been a blessing in your life, places like Mary, Queen of Peace, the parish that nurtures your faith, supports you in times of need, and gives you a sense of belonging and purpose. It is also, most likely, the place where you are leaving footprints behind through sharing your gifts, loving your neighbor, and worshipping our God.
Look back on your footprints at MQP and consider: What are your hopes and dreams for this beautiful family of faith in the next 10, 20, or 50 years? How can you help ensure a big, bright future where individuals and families can continue to grow in faith, be anchored in hope, and encounter the love and mercy of Jesus? How can you leave your footprints on the future of Mary, Queen of Peace? Legacy giving is a wonderful way to make a significant difference. It is one of the most impactful ways to give to ensure that the parish you love today remains strong for generations to come.
If you don’t believe these words, listen to those of Jesus. He left footprints all the way from Capernaum to Jerusalem during his earthly life. But, on the night before he died, he left a legacy he commanded us to follow: “Love one another, then, as I have loved you” (Jn 13:34). Listen to Jesus and plan how you can leave a legacy of love, how you can leave your footprints on the heart of this place you call home.

Setting up a Legacy gift, sometimes known as Planned Giving, is a deeply personal act, a profound act of praise and worship. To make a Legacy gift is as simple as naming Mary, Queen of Peace as a beneficiary in your will or in your Life Insurance or IRA.
It involves donating through your will or other formal estate planning designation, a way to contribute a unique and planned gift to Mary, Queen of Peace.
For most people, Legacy gifts are the most significant gift they can make. It brings them a profound sense of joy and satisfaction by making a transformative difference to the ministries they care most about.
Typically, these gifts are larger than lifetime donations because they come from various traditional and nontraditional assets, such as insurance policies, retirement assets, equity, or real estate holdings. This flexibility allows you to make a significant contribution in a way that best suits your financial situation and personal preferences.
Bequests and Estate Gifts:
Will or Living Trust: A gift of cash, securities, or property made through a will.
Beneficiary Designations: Assigning a charity to receive all or part of a retirement plan (IRA, 401k) or life insurance policy.
Life Income Gifts (Split-Interest Gifts):
Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA): A contract where a donor transfers assets in exchange for a fixed, guaranteed income for life.
Charitable Remainder Trust (CRT): A trust that pays income to the donor for life or a term of years, after which the remainder goes to charity.
Pooled Income Fund: Assets from many donors are combined and invested, with donors receiving a share of the income.
Gifts of Assets (Non-Cash):
Appreciated Securities/Stock: Donating stocks, bonds, or mutual funds to avoid capital gains tax.
Real Estate: Gifting property, which can include a "retained life estate," allowing the donor to live in the home while donating it.
Closely Held Stock/Business Interests: Gifting ownership in a company.
Other Vehicles:
Charitable Lead Trust: A trust that pays income to a charity for a period, with the principal returning to the donor or heirs, often reducing gift/estate taxes.
Donor-Advised Funds (DAF): An account managed by a public charity, allowing donors to make charitable contributions and take an immediate tax deduction.
