Bankruptcy Update

In December 2025, the Archdiocese of New Orleans and survivors of clergy abuse agreed to a $230 million settlement, with some of those funds coming from parishes.

In the months since the settlement, Fr. Cooper has taken a voluntary reduction in salary and some individual donors have stepped forward to cover the cost of the Mary, Queen of Peace portion of the settlement, which the archdiocese has asked parishes not to disclose.

With Fr. Cooper’s pay reduction and the generosity of these individual donors, Mary, Queen of Peace can confirm that no money was taken from your offerings to go toward the abuse settlement.
