“It all started with a dream and a mouse.” I love this quote from Walt Disney, whose early drawings of a little mouse blossomed into an iconic figure and a Magic Kingdom filled with characters, amusement rides, light shows, and much more.
Walt Disney dreamed big, but God dreams bigger – and He needs you and me to dream with Him, to make His dreams come true. He needs each one of us to respond to His call, to help create not a magic kingdom but a kingdom of love, a kingdom that follows God’s will on earth as it is in heaven.
In Genesis 37:5-11, the sacred author writes about how “Joseph had a dream.” I want you to go ahead and put your name there. “Stephen had a dream” or “Susan had a dream.” You see where I’m going with this? God has a dream for you! So, what’s your dream? What’s your passion? What has the Lord placed on your heart? If you don’t know, I’d like to encourage you bring this question to God in prayer. Quiet yourself in His presence and ask God to begin to speak to you. Ask Him to show you what He wants you to do for His glory.
At Mary, Queen of Peace, we are always dreaming big, not for my sake or your sake, but for the sake of the Lord, who calls us to be his holy people. We dream big because God has blessed each of us immensely and we are obligated to respond: “As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God’s varied grace” (1 Pt 4:10).
How can you be part of Dreaming Big at MQP? How can you use your gifts to serve one another? Perhaps you have a gift for singing, a knack for knitting, a talent for teaching, a flair for decorating – whatever it might be, I invite you to visit our Ministry Fair next weekend, in the school cafeteria, to see the many ways we Dream Big at Mary, Queen of Peace.
There is room for everyone in God’s big dream, so please take a moment to stop by the cafeteria after Mass and see where you can find your place. You may think your talents are too small, your time too squeezed, your treasure too limited, but don’t let that stop you from daring to dream. After all, “With God, all things are possible” (Mt 19:26).
