“Among the many signs and symbols used by the Church to celebrate its faith, music is of preeminent importance…Music should assist the assembled believers to express andshare the gift of faith that is within them, and strengthen their interior commitment of faith” (Music in Catholic Worship, #23)
Allison Hymel will be stepping down as our Director of Sacred Music effective June 30 after almost four years of dedicated service to our parish family. We are grateful for the many gifts Allison shared with MQP, and we wish her all the best and many blessings in her new endeavors.
Reagan Hightower will be stepping into the role of Director of Music Ministry for both the church and school on July 1. Reagan and her family have called Mary, Queen of Peace home for many years. She and her brothers, Ross, Sean, and Andrew, were students at MQPCS, and she sang in our children’s choir for several years. Regan has recently been cantoring at the Saturday Vigil Mass. She received her undergraduate degree in music from the College of St. Benedict in Minnesota in 2021 and is currently enrolled in the masters program at Loyola University in New Orleans. Reagan spent three teachers as a Music and Theology teacher and Theater Music Director at St. Scholastica Academy where she graduated in 2017.
Reagan will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing music within the parish's liturgical celebrations while also developing and leading a high-quality liturgical music program for the church and school. Her goal as the Director of Music Ministry at MQP is to develop a prayerful, singing assembly through celebration, preparation, and evaluation and through education and personal ministry and to support the Gospel message through song and challenge the assembly to live it more fully. Reagan will encourage and welcome congregational participation in worship through music, as well as continue to educate and motivate musicians of all ages to achieve their potential and serve our faith community musically.
We welcome Reagan to our ministry team and ask for your prayers as she begins this new chapter. Let us hold each other in prayer in this time of transition and new beginnings.
